After all of these years, it is still weird to me that the producers of The Late Shift cast Bob Balaban as Warren Littlefield, well after he had played Russell Dalrymple on Seinfeld, who was an obvious analogue for Littlefield. Was it intended as an inside kind of joke? Did they just figure- “Well, we’ve seen that he can play that guy, so why not?” Just odd.
